Facebook Announced Comment Moderation and Support Features, Including Live Chat for Some Account Issues

Managing community engagements maximises response and making sure that it is a safe space is paramount in ensuring that your content does what you’ve intended. Unless you are a believer that all publicity is good publicity…

Business pages have been able to do this for quite some time, but now creators can do the same. When you hide a comment, it’s only visible to the commenter and their connections, while Page admins can view all hidden comments on any post by selecting ‘Hidden by this Page’ in the comments drop-down menu.

Instagram: Reels Replies for enhancing short-form video

Instagram is back at it again, ensuring that their video formatting follows TikTok by introducing the new feature. When you reply to a comment on a post, you’ll now have the option to tap a button to create a video reply, which will then appear as a sticker that you can send to the commentator.

This will be great for business pages to reply to comments that may be questions about their product or services!

Did someone say TikTok is expanding to in-person food delivery?!

TikTok is coming together and creating Virtual Dining Concepts with Grubhub. TikTok’s restaurant service will update its menu quarterly and see TikTok-branded foods delivered to your door.

TikTok plans to launch around 300 locations that will start delivering dishes in March, with plans to open more than 1,000 restaurants by the end of 2022. The menus will draw from the most viral food featured on TikTok, which people can then have delivered to their door via Grubhub.

Meta Takes More Action Against Data Scraping

The bug bounty program by Meta will offer app researchers rewards for alerting data scraping measures to drive privacy at the forefront of their concerns.

As it currently stands, scraping public data from websites is not technically illegal. At the least, there is a standing legal precedent for such that would allow third parties to extract public data without falling foul of the law. Meta aims to find bugs that enable attackers to bypass scraping limitations to access data at a larger scale than the product intended and make scraping less costly for malicious actors to execute.

Snapchat Launch Story Studio App to Better Facilitate Video Content Creation

Following the TikTok style, you can now use frame-precise trimming, splitting, and timing tools to get edits perfect for posting. You can now add layers and captions and then sounds from Snapchat (much like TikTok) and new lenses and smoother transitions from one video to another.

Twitter Adds Auto Captions for All Video Uploads in Tweets

A win for inclusivity across platforms! At Brandlective, we always advise our clients to caption video and audio content so those with a hearing impairment can still access the content. Additionally, 80% of videos watched on social media platforms such as Facebook are viewed without sound – so if there is any spoken dialogue having captions is highly advised.

Twitter Tests New, TikTok-Like Full-Screen Display for Explore

The display is exactly like TikTok, with a Twitter navigation bar at the bottom; again, underlining the massive influence that TikTok has had on social app development, as every platform scrambles to keep up with the latest trend.

Instagram may not be as chronological as it once was:

Instagram’s coming chronological feed will be more of a choice that users will have to select manually. You can’t set it as a default, though, so you’ll need to change it to chronological feed every time you return to the app.

Instagram feed display toggle

As you can see, the new toggle enables you to sort your main feed by ‘Favourites’, which are profiles you add to your top list, and ‘Following’, in addition to the traditional, algorithm-defined ‘Home’ feed.
