It’s been a year of testing, tweaking, and keeping our clients in the know about how to turn everything happening in the digital marketing world into opportunities.

…all while pushing our #1milliondays impact journey forward in the background.

Now, with Christmas campaigns rolling out and 2026 on the horizon, we’re wrapping the year with the same mindset that carried us through it: Stay adaptable, stay creative, and remain committed to learning and growing with our followers in new ways.

Let’s dive into what’s new, what’s working, and what to look out for in social media marketing:

Instagram hits 3 billion users + pushes Reels-first feed

  • Instagram reached 3 billion monthly active users in November.
  • In some markets, Instagram is testing a “Reels-first” layout — meaning users open the app into Reels by default (instead of a traditional feed).
  • Along with that, they added new algorithm controls: users can now see topics Instagram thinks they like (and choose to see more or less of them), plus a Reels watch-history function to revisit previously viewed content.

👉 What it means for marketers / small businesses: Reels, or short-form video content, should be a core part of your strategy. Static posts may struggle more now in visibility; video (especially Reels-style) content could get better organic reach.

Google Rolls Out Quiet Adjustments as Search Results Swing in November

In November 2025, search results under Google have experienced pronounced volatility and frequent ranking fluctuations, even though there was no officially confirmed “core update”. Instead, what seems to be happening is a series of smaller algorithm refinements and AI-driven adjustments (rather than one large sweeping update).

These “micro-adjustments” appear to emphasise:

  • Semantic understanding of content & user intent — Google is leaning more heavily on AI/semantic analysis, moving beyond simple keyword-matching or traditional SEO signals.

  • Quality, relevance, and user experience — sites are evaluated not just on content volume or backlinks, but also on depth, topical coherence, trust/authority (E-E-A-T), mobile-friendly user experience, and how well they match what users actually want.

  • Search intent clustering and query-context awareness — with tools like Google Search Console adding new features (e.g. “Query Groups”) that reflect how users search in context; this pushes SEO toward building content clusters / topical authority rather than isolated keyword-focused pages.

LinkedIn Unveils AI-Powered People Search — Find Professionals with Plain Speech, No Filters

In November 2025, LinkedIn rolled out a new AI-powered “people search” tool (initially for Premium users in the U.S.) that transforms how you find contacts.

Rather than relying on precise job titles, company names or long filter chains, you can now type in normal-language prompts — for example, “investors in healthcare with FDA experience,” or “Spanish-speaking digital-marketing freelancers in Barcelona”, and LinkedIn will surface relevant profiles using its AI-driven matching. This change aims to simplify connection discovery, making networking, recruitment, and outreach more intuitive by interpreting your intent rather than expecting exact keywords.

You can search for people by traits, style, or niche — things filters couldn’t previously detect.

Examples:

  • Marketing for sustainable brands
  • Marketing strategists who specialise in millennial audiences
  • Funny copywriters
  • Experts in modern brand identities
  • Marketers who talk about AI and automation

Reddit launches direct WooCommerce integration

Reddit announced a new integration with WooCommerce that makes it far simpler for small and medium-sized online merchants to start advertising on Reddit. Through this integration, merchants can sync their product catalogues, implement Reddit Pixel & Conversions API with one click, and create campaigns (including Dynamic Product Ads and conversion-oriented ads) with minimal technical setup.

If you need Reddit ads for your online store, this opens up an additional channel to drive sales, especially for niche or community-oriented products.

New “Interactive Ad” Formats on Reddit

Reddit is testing a new type of ad format that allows brands to run interactive ads (quizzes, timers, mini-games, reveal-style ads, etc.) directly in users’ feeds. The first public example is a campaign for a film release.

These ad formats are designed to capture attention and encourage participation, rather than passive scrolling. They’re more immersive and drive higher engagement, which can be helpful for brand awareness or top-of-funnel efforts.

Businesses See Rising Traffic from ChatGPT — But Analytics Still Lag Behind

As more consumers discover companies through ChatGPT recommendations, marketers are facing a new challenge: AI-driven referrals are growing rapidly, yet there’s still no dedicated analytics dashboard to track them. While OpenAI recently began adding UTM parameters to some outbound links, allowing traffic to show up clearly in tools like GA4, most referrals still appear as “direct” or “unknown,” making attribution difficult.

To adapt, marketers are turning to workarounds such as custom tracking URLs, monitoring unexplained direct-traffic spikes, and optimising content for “Answer Engine Optimisation” (AEO) so their businesses are more likely to be recommended by AI models. With no official “ChatGPT Search Console” yet, businesses must combine creative tracking methods with strong content visibility across the web to capture this emerging stream of AI-driven discovery.

TikTok Adds AI-Content Filter, Letting Users Control How Much AI They See

TikTok has introduced a new control toggle that lets users decide how much AI-generated content appears in their feeds, a shift that could directly impact reach and engagement for creators using AI tools. With this filter, audiences can dial AI-content visibility up or down, giving them more autonomy over what feels authentic, creative or human-made.

For marketers and creators, this means AI-assisted videos may no longer be guaranteed the same algorithmic push, and a balanced content mix could become essential. As users fine-tune their preferences, brands may need to experiment with how AI fits into their storytelling.

Omnichannel Marketing Becomes Essential as Customers Demand Seamless Journeys

For example, a customer might discover a product on Instagram, add it to their cart on mobile, receive a personalised discount by email, and complete the purchase in-store — all without losing their place or repeating steps.

Businesses that connect their touchpoints, align messaging, and unify data across platforms can deliver smoother journeys, higher satisfaction, and stronger customer loyalty. For marketers, this shift demands deeper integration between channels, smarter automation, and a consistent brand experience from first click to final purchase.
