When we launched our social impact initiative in 2017, we set a bold ambition: to contribute 1 million days of resources to reduce inequality by 2030.

Today, we are thrilled to announce that we have reached a significant milestone — 500,401 days donated and committed.

That’s more than halfway to our goal.

It’s a moment not only to celebrate, but also to reflect on what this means, how we made it possible and what lies ahead.

Why we made the pledge

At Brandlective, we believe that business can and should be a force for good. As a London-based digital marketing agency, we know that our work (building brands, creating digital experiences, connecting people and ideas) doesn’t exist in a vacuum. We wanted our business to be more than a service provider: to be an enabler of opportunity, a supporter of equity, a contributor to global progress.

As part of that belief, we became advocates of the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In particular, we align with Goal 10: “Reduce inequality within and among countries.” Our conviction is simple: everyone has the right to access education and development opportunities, to have clean water, and to live and thrive in a world of fairness and possibility.

Thus, the #1MillionDays initiative was born: a way to embed giving into our everyday business decisions, to turn each client win, each project delivered, into direct social impact. Over the years, what started as a pledge has gained momentum, consistency and authenticity. And today we celebrate reaching halfway.

What #1MillionDays means in practice

It’s one thing to promise impact; it’s quite another to integrate it into the business so that it becomes part of how we operate rather than a separate “nice to have”. That’s why we designed micro-giving mechanisms that link our commercial activity with immediate, measurable social contribution.

Here are a few of the ways we’ve done that:

  • When we sign a new client, we provide the equivalent of 1 day’s wages for a human rights worker.

  • When we complete a website development project, we provide 2 days of business training for women in developing countries.

  • For every 30-day Kickstarter package completed, we give 30 days of access to clean drinking water and education projects.

These models have enabled us to translate client engagements and our delivery work into tangible, meaningful days of resource contribution. This isn’t secondary—it is part of our service model and part of our identity.

Highlights of the journey so far

Reaching over half a million days is not just a number—it represents thousands of lives touched, opportunities unlocked, and a business aligning itself to purpose. Here are some reflections on how we got here:

Consistency matters

Since 2017, we have consistently applied our giving model. Month after month, client after client, project after project, the commitment has been there. It hasn’t always been easy—business cycles fluctuate, client demands change, priorities shift—but by keeping giving embedded in our business decisions, we have managed to stay the course. This consistency has been key to reaching the milestone of 500,401 days.

Scale through design

By tying impact to every relevant business action—rather than only when it’s convenient—we’ve built a model that scales naturally as the business grows. For example, more website projects mean more days of business training; more client wins mean more days of human-rights worker support. This approach means that growth in our business yields growth in our impact, and the two are connected, not separate.

Partnership and integrity

Our collaboration with B1G1 (Business for Good) has been pivotal. In 2017, we joined forces with B1G1 as our platform for making an impact in a transparent, high-integrity way. 100 % of contributions made via B1G1 go directly to the chosen causes; B1G1 takes nothing and does not receive funds from charities for the services it provides. Furthermore, each “worthy cause” participating in B1G1 must undergo an audit and commit to using all B1G1 donations directly to assist those in need. This gives us confidence that our giving is aligned with real outcomes and real organisations that meet rigorous standards.

Connection through travel

Another highlight over the years has been the opportunity to travel and meet some of the incredible recipients of these resources. Our team has spent time in Kenya, Borneo and Cambodia, connecting not just with the organisations (what we affectionately call our worthy causes) but also with the worthy recipients themselves.

As you can imagine, these are hugely emotional experiences — moments that ground us, humble us, and remind us that behind every “day of resource” is a real person, family or community striving for something better. Seeing the schools we’ve helped fund, the clean water systems installed, and the women receiving business training brings our mission to life in ways that spreadsheets never could. These encounters continue to inspire us and deepen our commitment to the #1MillionDays journey.

As a business, we exist for equality too

Our mission for equality doesn’t stop with charitable giving—it’s also at the heart of why Brandlective exists.

When we launched in 2012, we did so because too many businesses were being left behind—brilliant founders, passionate teams and purpose-driven organisations that simply weren’t receiving the marketing attention or resources they needed to grow.

Over the past 14 years, the digital landscape has transformed dramatically. New technologies, new platforms and new algorithms have reshaped how people discover and connect with brands. From the rise of social media to the dominance of AI and automation, these shifts have been both exciting and, at times, overwhelming for small and mid-sized businesses.

Throughout that evolution, we’ve been strong advocates of digital inclusion. We believe every business, regardless of size or budget, should have the opportunity to compete and thrive online. Equality, to us, means levelling the playing field—not just through philanthropy, but through the work we do every day: empowering smaller businesses with the tools, knowledge and visibility they need to grow.

So, in many ways, our external mission of giving mirrors our internal business mission. Whether we’re building websites, optimising for search or telling brand stories, we’re doing our part to close the gaps—because everyone deserves a fair chance to be seen, to grow and to succeed.

What 500,401 days means

Let’s unpack what reaching 500,401 days actually signifies.

  • It means we are past the 50 % mark of our target of 1 million days by 2030.

  • It means tens of thousands of individuals and communities have benefited: women gaining business training, human-rights workers empowered, children accessing clean water and education.

  • It means we are walking our talk—it’s not just aspirations, but thousands of “days of resource” delivered.

  • It means our business model and giving model are aligned and reinforcing each other.

  • It means we still have work to do—but the pace, the foundation and the momentum are in place.

In effect, 500,401 days is both a celebration and a springboard. A moment to say: We’ve done much, but not all. We’re proud, confident and energised—but focused on what’s next.

Why reducing inequality is at the heart of what we do

At Brandlective, our choice of social impact focus—education, opportunity, clean water, training—was not arbitrary. We believe that inequality is one of the biggest systemic obstacles to flourishing lives and thriving societies.

As the United Nations emphasises in Goal 10, the aim is to “Reduce inequality within and among countries,” ensuring that no one is left behind.

Inequality manifests in many ways: limited access to education, exclusion from markets, lack of safe water, and restricted opportunity because of gender or geography. Our micro-giving approach aims to chip away at those entrenched barriers—one day at a time, one training session at a time, one clean-water access point at a time.

By linking our commercial success to these giving outcomes, we make a statement: business can, and should, contribute to creating equitable opportunity. It’s not just about profits—it’s about purpose.

Our vision for the next chapter

What’s next? Having reached the half-way mark, we turn our gaze to the years ahead up to 2030 and beyond. Here’s how we plan to continue:

  • Accelerate impact: With the foundation in place, we are looking for ways to increase the rate of donation-days—whether through more generous giving models, more clients, or broader partnerships.

  • Deepen the stories: We want to not only report numbers, but share real-life stories of change—of women whose business training transformed their livelihood; of communities who gained access to clean water; of human-rights workers enabled to make a difference.

  • Strengthen integration: The giving model is embedded in our business. Next phase: make it more visible in client communications, in our brand story, in how we attract talent and partners who share our values.

  • Leverage our network: We will invite our clients, suppliers and collaborators to engage more deeply with the #1MillionDays story. Together we can amplify reach and impact.

  • Ensure sustainability: As we grow our giving, we’ll continue working with B1G1 to ensure that our contributions are effective, transparent and aligned with audited worthy causes. The integrity of our giving matters.

By 2030, our aim remains unwavering: 1 million days of resources delivered, contributing to reducing inequality and enabling opportunity across the globe.

A message to our clients, team, and partners

We couldn’t have reached this milestone without you. Whether you joined us as a client, a collaborator, a team-member or a friend of the brand, you have played a part. Every website we built, every new client we signed, every Kickstarter package we delivered—each of these triggered giving. Each of these is tied to our collective impact.

To our clients: thank you for trusting us, for enabling the model of giving that flows from your engagements.
To our team: thank you for embracing purpose, for integrating impact into your daily work.
To our partners (including the incredible B1G1 team): thank you for your integrity, for making the giving process credible and meaningful.

And to the communities and people who benefit from this giving: we see you. We honour you. We pledge to continue standing alongside you.

Why this matters for brand and business

Some will ask: why does a digital marketing agency commit to this model of social giving? The answer lies in our belief that purpose drives performance.

For brands today, customers, employees and stakeholders increasingly seek authenticity, transparency and value beyond profit. By embedding giving into our business model:

  • We affirm our position as a purpose-driven agency—one that doesn’t just serve but contributes.

  • We differentiate ourselves in a crowded marketplace by being clear about our values and our impact.

  • We attract clients and talent who share our vision and want to work in a business that matters.

  • We build long-term trust with clients, partners, and communities.

  • We contribute to the global agenda for equity, inclusion and sustainable development, which aligns with the sustainability expectations of many of our corporate clients too.

In essence, our commitment to giving is not separate from our business—it is part of our brand, our culture and our proposition.

A look ahead to November 2025

As we mark this milestone, we are delighted to share that our Comms Director, Stacey Kehoe, will be speaking at the forthcoming B1G1 Business for Good Conference 2025 taking place in Bali from 2–5 November 2025 at the Grand Hyatt Bali. Two of our team members will also be in attendance, representing Brandlective within this global community of purpose-driven businesses.

This is more than a speaking slot—it is an opportunity for us to deepen our learning, build new partnerships, and bring new ideas back into our giving model. If you’re part of our network and you’ll also be attending, please let us know—we’d love to connect.

In gratitude and commitment

So here we are: five hundred and twenty-thousand plus days of resources committed, countless lives impacted, hundreds of projects supported, and one business continuing to choose purpose. We are proud. We are grateful. And we are more determined than ever.

Thank you to every client, colleague, partner and vendor who has helped make this possible. Thank you to B1G1 and the worthy causes we support for their integrity and partnership. Thank you to our team for embedding giving into everything you do.

And thank you to the world of opportunity that lies ahead. We commit—today, and every day—to continuing this journey to 1 million days by 2030, and to beyond. Let’s keep going. Let’s keep giving. Let’s keep building a world where opportunity is universal, where inequality is challenged, and where purpose and profit go hand in hand.

Here’s to the next 500,000 + days of impact.
